Description: As for works in the Moments series, the Sémagrammes reprise the lines of force in a photographic collage by Karl Hermann Haupt, a Bauhaus student from the early 20th century.
In this Semagram series, the decision to reduce both the colour palette and the format
augments the visual effect. More vibrant, the composition with its criss-cross black lines seems to be imbued with tension.
Central to the composition, two drawings from the original block are complete, surrounded by ten partial blocks, suggesting the full deployment of the drawing.
The two off-centre, concentric quilted spokes enhance the dynamic effect and holds the three layers together.
