Technique: hand-assembled textiles, hand-quilted on a canvas base with a silk core
blocks of 11 x 7 3-cm squares – 7 rows and 16 columns – 8,624 squares.

Description: While the circle design was originally a reaction to a collection of silk samples featuring ikat style prints, none of these silks have actually been used in the movement of this composition. They have been replaced with a set of muted colours and striking prints. The work taken as a whole achieves a blurred effect, reminiscent of the original ikat selection, but now scaled up in size.

To join the three layers and add graphics and relief to the piece, spokes from three off-centre circles overlap and draw the onlooker’s gaze.
