Technique: Assembled using hand-sttching. Three layers quilted together, one of which is reversed, through a polyester core fabric chosen for its whiteness.

Description: Based on a fragment of a photographic montage by Karl Hermann Haupt which the artst explored in her Semagrammes and Instants series, Avalanches 1 and 2 show the memory of a sliding movement and the texture of heaped up layers of snow, interspersed with stones and sand deposited by the wind.
The broken quiltng lines accentuate the slanting momentum as well as holding the three layers together.
